Artificial Plant Designer and Production Manager

• Maclaw Inc. is a Mississauga-based importer and distributor of artificial plants and botanicals. We specialize in custom design and installation of artificial plant and tree displays for commercial spaces including hotels, restaurants, retail environments, and corporate venues. We serve clients across Canada, delivering high-quality, tailored installations that meet each client's unique aesthetic and spatial requirements.

• We are looking for a skilled and creative individual to join our team in a dual-function role combining custom artificial plant design and fabrication with warehouse supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for both the hands-on creation of custom plant installations and the day-to-day management of our warehouse operations.

Primary Duties: 

• Design and Fabrication (approximately 75% of duties)

• Design and build custom artificial plant and tree installations for commercial clients including hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, and corporate environments

• Interpret and execute client specifications and design briefs, translating requirements into finished installations

• Apply creative design judgment to develop aesthetically appropriate solutions for varied commercial spaces

• Select appropriate materials, plants, containers, and structural components for each project

• Construct, assemble, and finish installations to a high standard of quality

• Liaise with the sales and client services team to ensure installations meet client expectations

• Maintain design records and project documentation

Secondary Duties: 

• Warehouse Supervision (approximately 25% of duties)

• Directly supervises a team of 2 to 3 warehouse employees involved in shipping, receiving, and inventory functions, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing day-to-day direction

• Oversee incoming and outgoing shipments and ensure accuracy of shipping and receiving records

• Manage stock levels and inventory, including stock replenishment and inventory tracking

• Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts and related machinery

• Ensure the warehouse is organized, clean, and operating efficiently

• Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety requirements in the warehouse

• One to two years of training and/or experience in design work, decorative arts, floral design, visual merchandising, interior décor, or a related field

• Demonstrated ability to execute custom design work based on client specifications

• Experience operating a forklift and other warehouse machinery 

• Fluency in English, both written and oral, is required

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

• Physical ability to perform the requirements of the role including lifting and handling of materials
